"We called this agent while shopping for homeowners insurance and they pulled a bait and switch. The agent’s representative was more than happy to tell me how I could save money by switching my auto policy to state farm so I could bundle and save money. She assured me we were covered and I had nothing to worry about--- it was all taken care of! Great. The problem is, while we were at the table signing our closing documents, a woman from state farm called to let me know she would be out to take pictures of the roof. News to me! Based on those pictures, State Farm dropped us. This was never mentioned until the photographer called. They should have let us know they would be coming to take photos of the roof, and they should have informed us that there was a possibility they wouldn’t cover us at all. They mentioned NONE of that until it was a done deal with the auto, then they dropped us a few days later. It is fair for them to refuse to issue a policy based on photos of the roof. It is not fair to tell a client they have nothing to worry about. So, State Farm swindled us into switching our auto policy to save money on a homeowner’s policy they never even issued. I’ll switch back to Erie, where they tell it like it is. Don’t let this happen to you!"
